The fact is yes, lap band surgery is associated with some sorts of risks and complications just like any other weight loss surgery but it is less. Although this is one of the best and painless solution for weight loss but there are chances of having complications after surgery. You should aware with all kinds of lap band complication before going for this surgery.

As there is no need of cut and staple of any body part or re-routing of any digestive system hence Lap band surgery is considered as minimally invasive and less risky at the time of surgery. Two types of lap band complications are determined ---short term and long term. Short term complication are which you will experience within few weeks after surgery and will not make so impact on your body like vomiting, nausea, reflux, stoma obstruction etc. Long term complications occur after investing some amount of time with lap band like lap band slippage, gastric perforation, band erosion, Esophageal dilation, Pancreatitis, gallbladder etc.

Short term complication can be cure with the proper care and after discussing with surgeon. But with the long term complication you will get some pain and it may demand for re-operation. Just for an example lap band slippage. Due to the rapid vomiting or overeating or some other reason you encounter with this problem which need either adjusting of lap band or placing it at right place after re-surgery.

Most of the patients face lap band complications just after 2 or 3 weeks of surgery some may before or after this. This means it is totally differ with different lap band patients. Other lap band complications are constipation, abdominal pain, flatulence, chest pain, infection, dehydration, diarrhea, blood in stool, band leakage, inflammation of the stomach, migration of the stomach above the diaphragm (hiatal hernia), port problem etc. Beside this the major one if rejection of band by body means failure of surgery. Despite of taking lots of care it might be possible that lap band will not support to your body and your surgery will fail.
