Easy Lap-Band® process

Among all weight loss surgeries, Lap-Band® surgery is most preferred weight loss surgery just because of the involvement of minimally invasive process and less risky process. This is most safe and modern method of surgery called laparoscopic surgery.

In this Lap-Band® process, open surgery is not involved. Lap-Band® system is placed laparoscopically inside the stomach to tie stomach and divide it in two parts. The first upper part is small in size so that it can hold only small ounce of food and lower part is big in size. Lap-Band® system is the hollow band which is made up of silicone. Lap-Band® surgery works by restricting the amount of food intake. This system is used as restrictive device.

In this Lap-Band® surgery process there is no need of cut and staple, only small 5 to 6 incisions are made on abdomen to insert Lap-Band® device through it. Process starts with anesthesia. Patents are kept under general anesthesia. Small incisions are made rather than big one. Through one of the incision, narrow and hollow tubes are inserted to the surgical area. Now surgeon will pass especially designed camera and instruments to the surgical area to visualize the placement of the Lap-Band® . Tiny camera which is used here takes pictures and shows it on monitor. In this way surgeon see what is going on inside the abdomen.

Now surgeon tie band around the stomach and form like ring and fasten the lock which hold band in place just like a wrist watch. Now with help of sutures, band is placed and secured in place. In this way 15cc small pouch is formed. Now through tube band is attached to access port which is underneath the skin on the upper part of the abdomen. After this saline is injected through this port which expand the band.

Now the upper part formed hold small ounce of food and allow passing food slowly-slowly to lower part and thus to small intestine. Lap-Band® system reduces the capacity of stomach so that even in the small amount of food intake you feel full and thus tends to lose weight. The whole Lap-Band® process takes around 30 minutes and you need to stay 24 hours in hospital. after that you can back to your home and within 1 week you will back on your feet.
