Answer 1 After
lap band surgery you may feel problem like constipation or gas. You feel the reduction in volume of your stool and loose stool. You experience foul-smelling stools and flatulence. You will see color change in your stool. These problems are considered as
side effects of lap band surgery. It is not natural. But you have not to worry about that. It ends after some time. As you are taking only liquid as post-operative diet and also you are eating less fiber. So you experience these kinds of problems. When you feel constipation drink plenty of water almost 6 to 8 glass per day. Never take any pills without consulting with doctor. If you feel problem in greater extent then consult with the surgeon.
You can also expect
loose stools. It is normal case. Liquid in, liquid out. You can take it as one of the lap band side effect. It is for short period. When you will start taking food (soft), some fibers then you feel reduction in these problems. With the first some loose stools you may take Kaopectate which can be found in pharmacy or grocery store. It simply gel the stool as opposed to constipating you. But during this first phase of liquid diet if you are facing more problems regarding loose stools that are 6 watery stools per day for more than one week after surgery then you may have antibiotic associated diarrhea, which is caused by the antibiotic which has given by your doctor after lap band surgery. Consult with your doctor soon.
