Question: side effect? problem? ?
My port area has been cramping severely lately and I have a lot of problem swallowing food and sometimes drinks. Although I have gained 35lbs. Too embarrased to see my dr. Had yellow diarhea recently. Do you think there is a problem or have I just blown it?
Answer 1 After Lap Band Surgery there can raise the cases of port site pain which is slightly a type of complication that can either come down with days or pain can even get raised. Pain in port area can get raised because of the tightness of the band. This effect can be get controlled with injecting saline solution into the band through a port that lies just below the skin. This pain is not very severe and this can be well controlled with pain medication. Thus this is not a very big problem and can be fully get controlled with using the recommendation of the surgeon.
But if you find infection in the port area than it can be get treated by replacing the port or removing the band. At this time you can do face problem while swallowing foods so just prefer to have light food items which can be easily get swallowed. Best thing would be to include only liquids in your diet. This doesn’t arise any type of problem in having food. You first need to speak your doctor over port site pain and get his advice.
