Lap band surgery is less risky than any other weight loss surgery. But this surgery unfortunately involve with certain risks, discomfort and side effects. There is less surgical risk in Lap band surgery. The mortality rate is about 0.05%. If you are not living according to post-operative diet then complication may occur to you. Like if you are tea drinker then stop it, it is not permitted for the first three months after surgery. The most common complication with this Lap band surgery is alteration in size of the stomach pouch which is isolated above the band. The problem like –slippage of band, lap band erosion, vomiting may happen with you. Sometimes Access Port may be leaky or twisted and an additional process may be required to fix the problem. Sometimes narrow passage can get blocked because of its being too narrow. Other problems are: Band leakage, Reflux or vomiting, Erosion of band into stomach, Difficulty swallowing, Enlargement of stomach pouch or band slippage, Dehydration, No weight loss, Blockage of stomach outlet, Gas bloat, Nausea, Constipation, Ulceration, Weight regain, Gastritis, In extremely rare cases- death
